National Suicide Prevention Network (NSPN)
We’re proud to stand alongside The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales as an innovation partner of the new National Suicide Prevention Network (NSPN).
Every day, we see both the challenges people face and the life-saving difference that timely support can make. That’s why this partnership matters.
The NSPN brings together pioneering charities across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, all working to deliver innovative, evidence-based mental health support where it’s needed most. Over the next three years, the Network will help transform how suicide is understood and prevented across the UK.
Brave Mind’s connection to The Royal Foundation began through EarSass, the inspiring jewellery brand founded by Sophie McGown. Sophie created The Issy Star in loving memory of her cousin, Issy Phipps, an extraordinary young woman, Hartpury student, England Touch U18 player (winning Gold at the Junior Touch Championship in 2022), and rugby player for Maidenhead, Reading and Berkshire, who died by suicide in 2023, aged just 17. A proportion of proceeds from the piece are donated to Brave Mind, helping to support our work in mental health and suicide prevention.
This collaboration caught the attention of The Princess of Wales, when The Issy Star earrings were gifted to her by Issy's mother, Sarah Renton, in June 2023. The Princess then wore them on World Mental Health Day that October, and what began as a shared commitment to open, honest conversations around mental health has since grown into a national partnership with lasting impact.
As part of the NSPN, Brave Mind will continue to use the power of rugby and education to embed mental health support in trusted spaces where people already belong, on the pitch, in clubs and in classrooms.
Together, we’ll help ensure that timely, life-changing support is available to anyone at risk of suicide, where, when and how they need it.
