What Do You Wish People Understood About Mental Health?
For World Mental Health Day, The Issy Star brought together voices from across the rugby and mental health community to ask one simple but important question: "What do you wish people understood about mental health?"
The result is a collection of personal reflections that remind us just how important it is to listen, talk openly and recognise that everyone's experience of mental health is different.
Featuring contributions from our Brave Mind team, ambassador Morgan Macrae, Rachael Burford, Sophie, founder of The Issy Star, Jasmine, and Issy's friends, the film brings together people with different experiences and perspectives, all sharing a common hope for greater understanding around mental health.
It's a question that encourages us to think about what we might not always see or understand in the people around us.
At Brave Mind, we believe that conversations like these really matter. Mental health isn't always visible, and knowing how to recognise when someone might be struggling, how to start a conversation or simply how to listen can make a real difference.
It's why we work with young people and the adults around them, using the power of sport to build understanding, reduce stigma and give people the confidence to support themselves and each other.
We're incredibly grateful to The Issy Star for bringing these voices together, and to everyone who took part and shared their thoughts so openly.
We encourage you to take a few minutes to watch the film, reflect on the question and perhaps ask it of someone around you.
